A pleasant and entertaining take on what comprises an Art form and how working with a programming language can be just as artistic as working with oils or clay!

"Ride that fucking unicorn" says it all;

Lovely, thought provoking talk.
Well presented & entertaining.
Thank you.

Great talk, keynote material.

A very interesting take on something which I don't really think about because I code day to day.

Excellent presentation. Not only funny but really opened my eyes!

A good talk with many well made and reinforced points. I thought perhaps you could spend a little bit more time talking about how creativity's importance which I believe was a fundamental point of the talk as opposed to the definition of art.

Really nice insightful points, also the uni scores were the same as mine :-P

Great talk on how programming is like a logical art form, put into words something I was thinking for a little while.

Well presented & interesting, also amazing unicorn image.

Great talk. interesting and funny.

Very much echoed what I feel about my early experiences of programming - it is not purely a technical exercise but a means of self-expression.

Very well presented and illustrated. I think Erika is a great speaker and her enthusiasm really shows through.

So great to hear a talk about the creative side of programming and the artistic side of being a developer.

I really appreciated Erika sharing with us her exam results with us too. I struggle with the mathematical side of the development and sometimes feel I don't belong, so it was great to be reminded I'm not the only one and looking at what Erika has achieved so far is really inspiring.

I think this could be expanded on into a keynote talk.

Never before had I seen development as an art but my mind has been opened. A good, fun, thought provoking talk!

A very interesting overview of the similarities of Art and Software "Engineering". Very well done!

I enjoyed Erika's talk mostly due to the inner conflict it drew with the crowd. There was even a "But art is useless!?" remark from a delegate at the end.

Express - convey (a thought or feeling)

There's no getting away from it, writing code is a creative expression. That expression can be loved, hated and ridiculed (and there's no denying there's plenty of that happening).

So code isn't art but here we are in our tribes gladiatorially defending our masterpieces.

Sure the technical side always comes in and moulds this expression to be optimised for performance or readability, but it still remains an expression.

Let me ask you this, how does it make you feel when you:

- Look over old code?
- Delete code you've spent a long time putting together?
- Found a simple piece of code that does exactly what you wanted to achieve?

Wait.... code gives you feels? Let's think about THAT for second.

Anyway, major digression. Really enjoyed this talk and the "where the magic happens" graph was really interesting. Every developer should be able to plot themselves on it an see where they're lacking.

Great content and well delivered by Erika.

Superb talk highlighting the creative side of programming. For me the best bit was the "where the magic is" venn diagram!

The only thing lacking in this talk was overtime. As I mentioned before, this is keynote material.

A fantastic articulation of what had been swimming around my head all these years. Really entertaining and informative. Thank you Erika!

Very funny and "creative"

An entertaining talk from Erika, featuring a unicorn. Drew parallels between art and engineering. Quite insightful. :)

Great talk, illustrating the artist inside our coding minds. I've said for years code is like poetry and this talk captured that nature beautifully. Also, slides with Unicorns for the win!

A great talk that made a lot of sense in terms of what we do as developers.

It would be good to see more on the subject.
