Good to see Jenkins and the workflows in action. I would have liked to see a little more in depth coverage of the how the tests and deployment actually gets configured. Plus it would be nice to go over other options for different deployment scenarios. Overall, solid talk.
It's pretty rare to get a comprehensive talk about the implementation of a complex design pattern. I have never heard of event sourcing and appreciated learning about the context for using it and being able to see some of the implementation details.
Thanks for sharing your insights regarding how things have changed in Drupal 8. Being familiar with Drupal 7, it was interesting to hear and see how things have changed for D8 and where things might be headed in the future.
Clear presentation of actionable information. Excellent delivery with varied pace. Would have liked primary source for studies cited.
Good review of concepts and specific code samples. The handwritten/drawn slide images were refreshing
Good overview - I would have liked to see a simpler example built up from scratch rather than trying to follow the complex existing application.
I would have loved a bit more in depth on a select few women instead of a whirlwind tour attempting to touch on many different women. It felt a little bit like trying to cram the entirety of the history of women and computers into 50 minutes, which was a bit overwhelming.
Although I will say I came way from the session understanding that the breadth of women in programming was far more extensive then I had previously thought, which would not have happened had it gone further in depth on only a few women. I did end up with a long list of women I would like to further research and read about, which is great.
In the long run I feel Vesna helped pass on her passion and gave me the tools to further my own education.
Thank you! This is one of the best PHP talks I've attended. I am aware of event sourcing and was very intrigued by Apache Samza https://www.confluent.io/blog/turning-the-database-inside-out-with-apache-samza/, but haven't been able to translate those concepts into something practical that you could do in PHP or see good use cases for it.
This talk did a great job of showing a not-so-common concept that is complex in a very clear way with good and relatable examples. This talk was fantastic!
I have worked with a lot of legacy apps so this talk for me was part confirmation of what I have done in the past and part a new perspective. Well done.
I love all the fun screenshots and jokes that Gary puts into his talks.
