This was a great talk about the types of tools you could use and the changes you would need to make to upgrade to PHP 7. Sammy does a great job of bringing skill and humor to his talks. I really learned a lot and enjoyed it!
I didn't know very much about event sourcing before this talk and was glad to learn about accomplishing this in PHP.
I think you make this topic approachable by identifying that you didn't know what you're doing and I'm glad you admitted that! I think we tend to think of contributors as mythical geniuses and that we could never do something like that. It's good to hear from someone who is straightforward with the audience about the path to make it seem less scary.
Loved all of the content. I would love to see some resources that you'd recommend to improve in this area, such as books or training on adapting content to meet specific learning styles.
Great overview of the pros and cons of using different inheritance structures.
I loved the break down of learning styles and what motivates adults to learn. I knew there would be a lot of information geared towards teaching larger groups but I had hoped there would be some tips on more informal one-on-one teaching for when you need to explain things to a co-worker or teach a user the ins and outs of your program.
I was impressed at the level of detail Joe was able to dig into in such a short time (although it did go over and I had to leave before he was done to get to the next session I wanted to go to). I am very familiar with Drupal 7 but hadn't done anything with 8 yet. It was great to get "caught up" on the changes and feel like when I do use Drupal 8 now I won't be completely lost.
All around amazing talk that left me feeling thoughtful and inspired. It was a great closing to the conference as a reminder that after having spent these two days learning and feeling enabled to "do all the things" to still tread with care and to think through the potential consequences of our actions.
I appreciated the outline and recaps throughout the presentation. Pacing, explanations, and examples were all excellent.
There was so much great information in this talk! I loved the delivery, as well. Great!!!
