While I stand by the opinion that Anna is a great speaker and teacher, this talk in particular offered little new insights. Also the title was kind of misleading, after all, most of the talk was focused on prevention and best practices and NOT on surviving your next breach once it happens (which is what I was looking forward to, as it is the way more interesting and commonly less talked about subject).
Still, the discussion she moderated afterwards was rather interesting and all in all the talk did of course offer some new ideas for use in my daily business, I guess it's just not what I was hoping for.
Brief introduction to JCR and PHPCR, also showed some code examples and compared different tree models. It was not totally obvious though why one should prefer a content repository over a "traditional" database. A more deep dive approach into the pros and cons would have been nice. Also, as with all "Let-me-show-you-something-new"-talks I think it needs a "when to NOT use this" section, or a lessons learned part.
The talk lacked a certain coherence in language and articulation.
Nevertheless, I you have never heard of content repositories before it offered an understandable overview of the topic.
Good talk
It is always a good idea to think about the next data break. Anna presented some good toughts and ideas.
If you are doing content management stuff, this is definitely worth looking into.
PS: Took me a while to understand the "real problem" PHPCR is solving.
Solid presentation on a very important topic: Security. We all need to hear, learn and apply this and constantly question the work we do every day to protect the users.
Good intro to the PCR and PHPCR "standard".
Nice approach on an important security topic.
I would love to see more of this post mortem preparations f.e. make it easy to change your db, cache, service credentials.
Finally i added my slides i used for the talk.
I am really happy to see so much constructive critics for my talk. Thanks a lot, i will use it it make the talk and my self better.
