Can only agree with previous review, was entertaining and pedagogic, great talk excellently delivered.
I always like to see what Rafael has to talk about. This talk is super important for people that are willing to go after staff+ or is already working as one. Thanks for the talk Rafa <3
Loved the way that Nic delivered the content, he used story telling and practical ways of implementing how to keep architectural decisions for the future people that will touch the project and how to be a good technical leader.
Just amazing! Loved the content and Juliette's way of delivering the content was super good.
I was sitting next to a person that didn't know some stuff that she was talking about and I could see that he was mind blown by the content, in the end he was super thankful and I believe this was an important talk for him, because he was already thinking on how he's gonna use the things that he learnt, at work.
The content was there and it's super important to have this kind of talks in a conference as DPC, but It was quite heavy to digest.
Always nice to see Gary talks, as always full of humor and good content.
The presentation was good and clear. It explains why some of the things I already do work and give me new choices to think about. It will be a presentation where I will think about during my career.
Thank you Rafael - it was great to meet you and I would definitely like to hear more of your wisdom in the future. This talk was particularly relevant for me as a staff+ engineer, 15 years into my journey and still struggling to figure out what my position and my impact actually is and how to 'move up'. I was always adamant that I never wanted to be a manager - I love coding and problem solving too much. I'm thinking about the maps and archetypes presented and how I can use these to determine where I most bring value, and I'm definitely going to follow up on the recommended reading. Thank you!
Definitely learned some things from this talk. I recently read that PHP is one of the most 'polluting' languages, so this was top of my mind. To make this talk perfect I would have loved to hear how PHP compares to other languages and how we can offset carbon emissions when choosing PHP for our projects. Queues were mentioned, but perhaps asynchronous PHP could be benchmarked and explored in more detail. Thank you for presenting, Michelle, definitely food for thought.
Enjoyed the talk - clear examples, and good demonstrations of how pure functions help our test burden.
The audience took some time to start joining in with the questions that came up but it did feel good to be involved.
