Great talk. Ed elucidated and spoke about many concepts that we often ignore in our quests to be better developers.
Excellent speaker and useful knowledge to have when developing performance or resource intensive code. I'll definitely look into using phpng (php 7) when it's available.
Great talk. Thanks!
Love hearing stories of failure from an ultimately successful startup, because it means the failure is recoverable!
I loved this talk (speaker is super engaging and the topic is very interesting to me), but I do wish there had been a bit less time defining terms and a bit more time breaking down spaghetti code into testable code :)
This is a very difficult topic to tackle because there's so much to it and because people take it so personally. This presentation did a great job of covering a lot of the breadth of issues that come into play (including a lot of the less obvious contributing factors), the various ways we can contribute as individuals to solving this wide reaching social problem, and why we should care. Bonus points for "Worth It" scale. This talk may have made me a better person. Recommend.
I was hoping this talk would make the idea of contributing to the PHP core less intimidating. It totally delivered. Also, it was fun :)
Loved the speaker's enthusiasm and broad background. Talk covered a range of topics, so lacked some depth. I might be interested if this was converted into a day 1 tutorial.
p.s. I think "Spaghetti" was a euphemism for fugly code. ;)
