Not too bad, but Roy seemed really, really nervous...a bit distracting, really. This was a good talk insofar as it showed off some Zend Studio, something I haven't used before but may play with now--to take advantage of some of the things Roy talked about.
Went rather too quickly and wasn't terribly specific to PHP (even the speaker seemed to acknowledge this), but at least it got me interested in the product. Hmm...I wonder if that was the real point...
Terribly disappointing. The sound problems were awful (I could hardly hear anything the speakers were saying) and it didn't help that the trio seemed to be chatting amongst themselves half the time.
Like others, I would have hoped for something more along the lines of "This is how you *do* a code review"; in fact, when I mentioned the talk to my colleague, he specifically asked me to try to get this information. Instead, the trio simply ripped into existing code, telling us how this was wrong, that was wrong, and so forth.
I got only two things out of this talk: First, a few useful tools (thanks to Sebastian) for evaluating code; second, the decision to NOT go to the OOP code talk later in the week, simply to avoid the speaker...which is too bad, since it might have been good otherwise.
I really hope Zendcon has a tutorial on real code review in a future year.
Pretty decent, but I would have preferred something a bit more hands-on. A lot of useful stuff to be sure, but I was expecting more of a tutorial than a lecture.
Easily the best talk I went to whilst here. Very useful and very informative. Thanks, Rob!
There were parts of this that were rushed, but as a whole it was very well paced and worked well.
I thought that the material complemented the PHP|Architect study guide -- but that the two worked well together!
Great job - don't worry about coming up short on time. Plenty of good Q&A after to make it up!
Great info. Going to be very useful.
I realized early in the talk that I'd seen this before--in fact, I'd been in the summer Webinar with Matthew via php|architect. This was a great session and quite useful, and I'm glad I chose this one.
