As someone who already knows the technical details about DDD, I've attended this talk to see and hear why is everyone praising Pim for this talk. And sure enough, the praise is well deserved. I haven't seen such charisma on stage in a very long time. While the talk doesn't go really deep, the two case studies in the end are really nicely done.
Good talk! Not a lot of new info for myself peorsonally, but neverttheless well structured and good info.
It's funny to realise that techniques you use daily for other classes, you never really use for exceptions. The misconception that exceptions are somehow something different. That's my main eye opener from this talk :)
I felt that this talk is less about "this is how you should do things", but more of a talk to challenge the status quo and lets try something new and different to make things better because the speaker is not happy with how things are in the web dev community. Not a lot of people are out there trying to push the boundaries, but Shawn is one of them.
I love watching talks from speakers that are smarter than me. I love the fact that this wasn't presented as "just another microservices talk". Instead it was a balanced talk where software design choices made sense and had a purpose.
Glad to see that it wasn't the typical Microservices Kumbaya and that the pros and cons were clearly mentioned
Thank you for sharing your experience on this subject. I have placed Kafka on my list of things to look into. Would like to see some more in depth configuration/usages in this presentation.
Thank you!
I really enjoyed this talk, thank you very much!
Jachim is a Git PRO, I know this first hand. The idea behind the talk is brilliant, but the fact that some of the demos didn't work out as planned is a bummer.
Maybe compartmentalize the talk a bit more in the future and attach simple pre-recorded Git examples to each step.
As someone who might be leading a team in the near future, this talk was really valuable for me. I haven't heard yet about the four "-ing" stages of team development model, so I learned a lot. One of the top 3 talks for me at the conference.
Talk was good. Presentation was clear, speaker had no trouble getting his message across the room.
I also like the summary of features that Kibana offers.
But I do feel that the title and abstract is misleading, leaving out a specific keyword: kibana.
Don't get me wrong here, I like Kibana (as I configured an ELK stack before) but I was more looking forward to broader stack.
Feels more like a dutch commercial "To solve this problem, we advice you use this software".
Summary: cool talk, insightful, not what I wanted to see, feels commercial, live demo was cool but next time ask the audience NOT to DDoS your server as this was quite annoying for the demo.
I really enjoyed playing games with people. As you may have noticed.. #ketchup
