Talk comments

Adam never disappoints. I walked away with a solid strategy to tackle converting legacy projects.

I have seen this talk a couple of times now and it never fails to inspire me. Luke does such a great job of speaking with sincerity and passion that one can't help but be drawn in and thus inspired. The presentation has a wonderful balance of light hearted humor and serious notes of caution and reality.

I am not a developer but a teacher so I am evaluating the talk based on the presentation of the information. Jeff is a great presenter that easily pulls you in to what he is saying. I applaud the use of diagrams in understanding the process and in helping demonstrate the concept visually. The structure of the presentation also made it very easy to see the process of how going from a simpler system to a more complex system works. Well done!

I really enjoyed this talk even though I am not a developer. Cal is a dynamic speaker and entertains as much as he teaches. I learned several things especially about the lingo. One negative comment that is a personal turn off to me, is self negativity or self depreciation. A number of times Cal made comments about how we didn't need to listen to him, or there were better talks to listen too. As a teacher those kind of statements always make me cringe. Everyone has value to add. Be positive!

I agree with many of the other comments that describe the lack of actionable items. Developers, teachers, mentors, conference organizers are all doers. If we see a problem, we want to know more about how we can help, make the situation better, contribute in our own neighborhoods. The addition of such to the talk would greatly improve the relevance of the talk to this type of audience. However, the presentation was deliver well and the topic of mentoring and teaching kids through failure was very interesting.

Inspiring talk delivered in a clever and interesting style that helps highlight the important message of mentoring and teaching.

Another fine nudge toward Composer. Maybe there's something to this. And really, a PHP user group? I had no idea. And many thanks for the brief lingo session. Let's hear it for yak shaving.

I've heard Luke give variations of this talk several times. Every time I learn something new. Luke is a good friend, a great mentor, and an awesome member of the PHP Community. If you get a chance to see this talk, DO IT!

Cal always gives great talks. While this talk was geared toward new developers, there were a few things I picked up for myself. I always enjoy his talks.

1/5, didn't even talk about WSDLs.

On a serious note, good presentation about SOA and splitting your application up into various services. I think it gives enough information to get someone familiar with the concepts and where to look next.
