I found the pace of the talk good and felt it was a slick presentation. Definitely aspects of this presentation I could use in current client work.
The queue that I initially lined up in for food, run out of food before I got there, and the initial queue for the bar was far too long (both issues down to venue staff, though I recall the bar queue two years ago was the same), but the event ran for long enough that they weren't a major issue.
Access to Action Stations, the Ninja course, and laser quest was fantastic - developers aren't such a sedentary bunch as some folks would believe! Definitely gave me the chance to chat with fellow developers in a more relaxed atmosphere than earlier in the day.
Well presented, with live examples of how PHPCS works. I already use PHPCS a lot and knew many of the tips, but there were nuggets of information in here that were new to me too!
Beautifully and calmly presented, the business case for doing BDD in general, and the power that examples have in disambiguating client discussions was clearly delivered. The glimpses of the Behat tests were all too brief, but it inspired me to go and look (again) at BDD - thank you!
If only managing dependencies WAS just about doing a "composer update"!
Nils touched on the multiple aspects that developers should consider, covering the risks and how to minimise them. Well presented and engaging.
Very well presented, covering a lot in the short timeslot. Definitely would like to have the slides available, as a starting point to code patterns.
I liked the fact there was a front-end talk early on in the conference. This did cover items at a reasonably high level, with implementation details left o attendees to discover in their own time. Well presented.
A well-structured keynote, that was insightful into the history of networked computing. Great anecdotal stories.
Too detailed on occasion though - names of computers and computer scientists of that era meant nothing to me I'm afraid, and they didn't sink in for recollection now, and as such, added nothing to the value of the presentation for me.
Nice to have a light hearted and fun talk with audience interaction. It was good to be reminded that it may not be a good idea to enforce rules which may only be valid ~95% of the time.
Thanks Michael!
Really enjoyable talk. Very educational, clearing up misconceptions and teaching me things I've always wondered about!
