Amazing
Wim clearly has a lot of depth to his knowledge, his presentation covered a lot in a short space of time but it was really informative and great to help fill in some blanks and rusty areas in my networking knowledge.
A really great talk brilliantly presented by Gabi, I learnt a lot about some of the newer features available in MySQL 8 especially the analytical ones.
It would have been nice if the presentation perhaps touched on the performance differences between past major versions and if there was a little time for Q&A at the end to ask about this perhaps.
Loved the presentation and the structure of going through it all was really helpful. Even covering the errors encountered really help know what to expect
A highly motivational talk that really inspired.
Found the Thijs very enthusiastic and really managed to inspire me to be more open to opportunities.
Great workshop.
The morning half covering TDD and PHPSpec was really interesting having not had a good foundation in TDD, and having never used PHPSpec before.
I'd mirror what one of the other members shared about the afternoon where it felt a little rushed on the BDD side of things. Mostly around where going from discussing what gherkin is and how to write it, right through to writing some tests. A little later extra clarity at this stage to cover that tests were still written in PHPSpec as in the morning would have really helped.
From the on-screen example, it appeared like the test (PHP) code might have gone at the end of the .feature file which caused confusion for our table initially and a load of questions around the room.
Other than this, I'd highly recommend this workshop and Ciaran as a great speaker.
Learned a lot about the subject matter, definitely some tools and systems in there that could really benefit both me and the company.
The Ciaran was both confident and knowledgable and managed to keep everyone very engaged.
I had a single glass of wine and left because I didn't know anyone there and there wasn't an easy way to introduce myself.
Table Tennis and Air Hockey are a good thing to have in a social space, but unless you have some kind of signup/league/reward thing going it's pretty much always going to be people who know each other already because it's a one-to-one game.
It'd be really helpful if there was a space for pickup gaming, or something similar to allow short-term social interaction between multiple people - something like Secret Hitler or Werewolves or Apples to Apples or any number of other many-player social games where it's very easy for people to drop in and out. Hell, you could probably get the manufacturers to give you free copies and a Demo Person.
Without knowing someone to talk to already, and there being so many people there, I didn't have an easy way of being introduced to people; and I didn't really want to just hang around not knowing anyone and not having any easy way to get to know them, so I went home.
Not really a great result for a networking space.
Totally demystified machine learning, thanks! I will have a go at this at work :-)
