Talk comments

While Terry is a great speaker, I think this keynote suffered from a lack of preparedness. Even going through it out loud once or twice in advance would make transitions smoother and better polished.

That said, the slides were great and very well done.. and the points and issues raised were well considered and described.

The vast majority of this didn't require the Zend Framework at all.. so while it was discussed, it almost seemed ancillary to most of the points. Regardless, my own command-line stuff - mostly in web2project - should benefit from the tips.

I appreciated the considerations presented - not learning another language for SQL, performance, etc - but I didn't feel like there was a conclusion. I didn't get the idea that there was a "So given our requirements, I've found X, Y, and Z to be the best options."

That said, the criticism and comments were all true and raised various points that I hadn't considered previously. I hope some of the ORM frameworks ponder the points.

Good coverage of the topic and a variety of things that I had - and hadn't - considered over the years. I'd like to see a few more tangible of examples of successful and failed efforts to do what Lorna and Skoop described.

Great talk incorporating a few things I knew with a lot that I didn't. I normally merge conflicts by hand but - as Lorna noted - it's really not that scary. I appreciated their perspective.

This could be nicely supplemented by a hands-on session trying out some of the tools.

I also thought it was very good. Lots of great info in there; might have to pick your brain about some of it for my team.

Great opening to the conference. Some funny jokes and good information. Plus, anyone who spreads the legend of Wild Garlic deserves 5 stars. ;-)

The talk is a very good overview of the HTTP status codes and provide very self explanatory examples.

Thanks Cal. I found that I have been doing a pretty good job after all, and also picked up some new ideas/concepts to build from.
Very engaging, intelligent, and kept me awake. :)

Very detailed, but nicely covered. Gave a bunch of new info, and while I have much to learn in java programming I feel I can get a strong start.
Gave a great ground level for me to start from. Thanks.
