Talk comments

It was a bit scary that Joe organized his talk around Kubler-Ross's five stages of grief, but for those of us who have worked in legacy applications that framework seemed appropriate. I would have enjoyed some more personal stories, but found the general recommendations useful. Thanks for the insights.

It was so nice to have insights from someone who has plenty of real-world experience in this domain. The presentation was well done, and the info was a lot of help to me. Now I have to go back and rework some of the bad API designs I've put out there.

Great overview of Domain Driven Design. One hour is not long enough to cover this topic, but Andrew did a great job of providing an overview and reviewing resources for digging deeper. I loved how he described three popular DDD books as "Old Testament, New Testamant, and Catechism", that was a great analogy for quickly giving us a handle. So far, this has been my favorite talk.

Thoroughly enjoyable. When in the car, my grandkids do indeed expect WiFi via my smartphone as a tethered hotspot. And it's amazing to see the video content they manage to create and post from the backseat using sites only kids their age seem to know!!

Yes, theirs is indeed a different world.

In truth, I didn't fully appreciate the topic at hand until we were quite a ways in, when things began to click. Not an intro topic, for sure, but the presentation was well considered and thought out. And I'm glad I attended. Thanks.

I liked the talk. What I think surprised me the most was the fact that deployments are made, live, during what are likely the heaviest periods of the day. The reason, of course, is that this provides a comparative basis against which to first judge the slow roll out before proceeding with the full. And emphasizes even more the importance of logging and associated dash boards. High level perhaps, yes, but for me, excellent. Thanks.

Much like Michael's talk on logging, his talk here was equally well presented. As to topic, as taken directly from my session notes... "This is neat nerdy stuff!!".

That said, would really help to have the speaker deck posted. Thanks.

I appreciated that Joe covered both HTML and WP syntax for current best practice handling of images -- which is exactly what I was after. And he did it well. Would appreciate if the speaker deck could be posted. Thanks.

Very helpful making sure everyone could run the examples and follow along. Once I had the right version installed I could catch up quickly and follow along.
