I've worked with to many managers who were promoted for technical or business reasons and who didn't have people skills, and even worse, some who were totally unaware they didn't have people skills! It's good to be reminded of the people side to any team work.
I found the second half (The AI/ML details) very interesting, and wish that section had more time and had been fleshed out properly. For that reason, I don't think the whole "I made this talk up now!" thing worked - also it's disrespectful to the other speakers and the attendees to overrun. I would have preferred it to stick to time and not have had the schedule disrupted for the morning.
Excellent talk from Meri, entertaining and thought provoking in equal measure. A lots of content to cover, but delivered with pace and clarity. Some handy book recommendations too.
I'll definitely make a priority of attending any conference where Meri is speaking at.
This was a nice talk from Adam, plenty of things to take away. I've been looking at my functions that have more than 20 lines in them. Also good to get me thinking about Agile Sprints in start-ups giving bosses unrealistic expectations, as well as rough code.
Excellent talk from Renato, lots of practical details and code examples. Convinced me of the benefits of GraphQL where as before I'd not quite fully realised the practical benefits.
Great talk, entertaining and engaging. I like the metaphor threaded through it.
Really nice practical talk from Matt, delivered with humor and candor. I went away and wrote a Joomla plug-in for CSP the next day.
Good overview from David, lots of content.
I really enjoyed this talk, it was practical and felt very real world.
It's a while since I've used MySQL to any great extent, so maybe I wasn't really the target audience, but for me this was the weakest talk I went to.
Nothing against Dave, who clearly knows his stuff, and presented it well enough, but the subject matter was pretty dry and didn't really grab me.
