This was the first time I've seen Ambrose talk, and I've got to say, he's really fun to listen to. The talk was packed with useful information to whet people's appetites for all the possibilities of UI Design. I would have loved to see a deeper dive into specific patterns and analysis of when/how to identify their application. Overall though, it was a great talk.
Marc and Justin did a fantastic interactive performance. Live coding with very few hiccups is a feat that I rarely see pulled off so seemlessly at an event like this. It was great to get a glimpse into how some seasoned iphone/ipad developers work in xcode and learn the tricks of their craft. Kudos fellas.
Molly is so in tune with the inner workings of our industry. It's inspiring to hear her speak about her excitement about the future of the web. And she powered through in spite of being ill and not being able to travel to the event. Great talk.
This presentation had a lot of great information on what is going into HTML5 and why. The technical difficulties were unfortunate but overall Molly seemed very knowledgeable.
This presentation touched on a lot of interesting points to consider about deploying in a cloud. I would have liked to hear a bit more background on what cloud computing is.
This presentation was very interesting; Jim presented some great examples and it was great to get to see the code behind them. I would have liked to hear a bit more on issues with web integration.
This presentation covered some great information and Ambrose was well-spoken and easy to understand. There was fairly good coverage of the overall theory behind design patterns and lots of great examples.
I thought Jon's talk was very informative. I was familiar with Agile and Scrum going in but I hadn't heard of Kanban before. I'm a little fuzzy on what officially was Kanban and what was Jon's personal tweaks, but regardless I felt the information presented was logical, practical, and easy to understand. I would recommend Jon's presentation to groups that haven't really done Agile or done it well.
Marc and Justin did a fantastic job and hit the nail on the head with delivering what the description for their session set out to accomplish. We're currently starting to wade in the iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch "development kiddie pool" for some retail applications so it was somewhat reassuring to hear that the initial frustrations I'm having migrating between the Visual Studio and Objective-C platforms is normal and expected. They were very straightforward and easy to follow. Second favorite session just behind Bill Nemeth's.
Wow. Mark knows his stuff. This talk was jammed full of incredibly insightful experiences on using Mongo in on large scale, high volume sites. There aren't many people who get this kind of view of technology pushing the edges of innovation. To me, this was the surprise talk of the day, and turned out to be one of the high points for me coming out of Stir Trek. Mark, wonderful work!
