I didn't know for sure which one of the talks I wanted to go to during this time slot, as I didn't know much about either. However, Ed was great at giving the story of Spaz and made it fun, interactive and informative, especially the choose your own adventure portion of his talk. He was also very humorous. Great talk!
Very interesting talk about the original hypertext preprocessor. I wasn't able to hear for the first 10 to 15 minutes, but that wasn't Drew's fault. He was very informative and very humorous. It was a great talk to go to immediately after lunch, because his talk was definitely not one I wanted to sleep through.
Well, obviously as a fairly recently addition to the PHP community, it was great to hear from the guy that got it all started. It blew me away how intelligent Rasmus was! But he was able to present his information in a way that wasn't completely terrifying for fairly recent users. Great job!
Excellent and informative stories from Paul about his projects: WonderProxy and XHGui. Using a story format really allowed him to shine when speaking about problems, execution, mistakes, and successes. His delivery was relaxed, humorous, and engaging. Well done.
A great set of best practices to be engrained in the heads of junior developers, and a thorough refresh for the more experienced.
An entertaining and informative speaker. Knows his audience and his project and how to connect them.
Lorna was a great presenter who was very knowledgeable about web services. She presented this is a fun but informative way. Although some of the information she presented was outside my current scope of knowledge, it was still very interesting to learn some more. I look forward to any future talks by her, especially when I have a few more years experience/knowledge and am able to take in even more of her knowledge the next time around.
Great, great, great talk by Helgi about Front-end caching. Helgi was very knowledgeable about his subject matter and presented it in a way that was easy for everyone to understand, from beginners to advanced users. Look forward to any future talks by this guy.
Got an education on the right way to make web services, despite a fair amount of experience consuming them. Lorna is indeed an excellent presenter and really cleared some things up for me (esp. SOAP vs REST vs XML-RPC, and the proper use of the HTTP protocol).
Thank you for a very informative talk.
I feel much smarter after listening to a talk Joël has presented -- deep knowledge and the ability to share it is excellent.
However, for me I would have preferred the talk to be all working with Lithium rather than a lot of Framework 101. I'm very excited about this framework, and would like to have seen more "real world" examples.
