Very good, well synthesised talk with many aspects of optimization covered. Lots of takeaways. Just one remark: please make the code samples more readable - bigger font, some color scheme with syntax highlighting will do.
Good information.. slides please. It was missing OS level tuning that can occur for performance increases depending on site
Great talk! It was a good mix of background info and technical details.
Jeremy is a great and informative speaker. The examples given and comparisons to previous versions were awesome. And the song... wow! I will be looking for previous sessions that Jeremy has given.
Colin is very versed in multiple CMS's, and gave a very interesting and informative session. I enjoyed the history of Laravel at the beginning. The second half of the session we dove into laravel and Colin provided excellent code samples to allow us to become familiar with the routing and presentation layer, and some things in between. The Laravel resources given were also very helpful. This was a very useful session!
Good coverage on the terminology of test mocking / doubles and how to use them. Might be able to consolidate the intro to DI and bits throughout the remainder of the talk on not hitting DB / APIs directly. Make it the intro a "Here's why you want to use mocks / doubles" and then flow right into "Here's how you use them".
Minor quibble though; been writing unit tests but now have a better understanding of what I have actually been writing.
Great talk and I really liked the associated emotions of each of the deadly sins.
Really good presentation and examples and singing the guzzle song took a lot of guts. Well done!
Issue Tracker vital=Agree 100% As a subversion refuge who often works on stand alone projects, Jeff introduced me to a number of possible workflows to consider. The whole talk was a reminder I need to update my git foo :)
