Talk comments

Very interesting and informational, but also way over my head.

Internet issues caused a lot of problems, maybe do a screen recording of the example in the event that the internet is spotty.

This was a great talk for anyone who is in a position to be delivering features to stakeholders.

Hands on, informative, maybe just enough to take back to a team directly but certainly enough to inform and allow us to formulate strategies, do some research and then take back to your team to implement.

Great talk! She was really good at using real world examples and had a lot of good, though-provoking ideas to take away.

A very interesting talk. Really good introduction using an IRL scenario, and then really provided some interesting thoughts and takeaways that we will look at in our own organisation.

Really interesting and insightful talk. We're hitting a similar problem currently (although at a much smaller size!), so certainly things I can take back and think about.

Decent talk, I was just hoping for more beyond the EXPLAIN command. I did learn a coupe of things, but not really what I expected. I should have taken the hint from the "EXPLAIN" in the text, but I think I assumed that you were going past that.

As for speaking, I would like to hear a little more range. I am guilty of this myself, so please don't take it as a harsh criticism.

Lorna, I alway enjoy hearing you speak.

My only recommendation is during the map function discussion, explain that these are super simplified functions to fit better on the slides. But because the data is schemaless, before assuming that the data is there and the proper type, you should do a little sanity check.

For example, are map functions always that simple? Could you provide an example of a more complicated function? Even if you don't go through all of it. Just a slide showing a longer map function may show more real world example?

I enjoyed this workshop very much.

Great class, I liked the real world examples and also that unit testing was included.
