Eric was a very engaging speaker, and explained the different options for writing asynchronous code in PHP. This is definitely something I'll explore for my company!
This was an excellent explanation of DDD and I’m really looking forward to Thursday’s deep dive further into the topic. The diagram for the brewing example was very clear and easy to follow. The whole thing really hit its stride about half way through (just a bit after the exercise with the paper and sticky notes).
Loved this talk! I learned that it's not too difficult to set these tools up, and they automate a lot of tedious work!
I enjoyed this talk very much. Jana was engaging and very clearly a subject matter expert. It would have been nice to hear/see some examples of separating concerns by country etc. it’s one thing to know it’s needed, it’s another to see examples of how to achieve it. Perhaps a co-presenter from the code side of the table would help solidify the “how” to complement this excellent “what/why” presentation, and could add depth for those working in smaller shops or working solo. All that said, it was extremely informative and very useful, thank you!!
Thoroughly enjoyed this talk. I will be diving deeper because of it.
There was a lot of great information in this talk, especially for anyone trying to build a product that they want to support multiple data backends for. I hadn’t realized there were such “gotcha” moments that need to be covered in case of those non-MySQL backends (shows how focused my db exposure has been!) It was a little hard to follow at the outset, but once I caught better on to what was being explained, it was great. People who are more focused on DBAL in everyday life probably wouldn’t have that same stumble.
Good pace of content - with a lot to digest. I already have a couple of things I want to implement/automate when I get back to world. -1/2 star for not mentioning D&D
I enjoyed this talk. The information was well organized and the details for the final “current” application structure were clearly expressed. It brought up a few ideas that I hadn’t been keeping track of and will be looking into further. The history portion was nice, but not strictly necessary to the goal of the presentation. It would have been nice to see a little bit more on the modern architecture patterns that are out there and a little less history (though knowing how we evolved to where we are is cool to see for folks who didn’t live it).
It’s Dave and databases (Davabases?), what more could you need? Lots of new-to-me details about getting the most out of MySQL.
Dave really knows what he was talking about! There was a lot of information, but I took away several nuggets I expect to use to improve my company's databases in the near future.
