It was encouraging to see some validation that some of my release practices are the "right" ones and the information on repository management was super helpful in giving me the info I needed to make the right decision for how to structure the repo.
Good job. It was nice to hear about the different SVN strategies and to know I haven't screwed up my projects too bad...yet :)
Lots of good ideas to think about. I especially liked how you analyzed each of the different branching strategies with their pros and cons.
Good talk, solid fundamentals. You mentioned Mozilla, but might be nice to tie in to PHP and/or other large PHP projects to tie into which VCS and strategy they employ
The information is old hat for me, but really nicely put together. I may steal some of your slides for my next security presentation.
Lots of good info. It was a great follow-up to Lorna's talk.
Excellent introduction to git. Despite having used it myself for a few months now, I still learned a few neat little tricks about commands I'd used, but for which I hadn't explored all options. I'd suggest more reinforcement of the concept of the staging area as that's a significant difference in behavior that can confuse people adjusted to using SVN. That aside, awesome job Travis!
As a newcomer to Git, knowing nothing about it, did not know what to expect. Thought it was a good introduction to Git, but will definitely try to attend a longer version of the talk when have the opportunity. Definitely liked parts of Git that Travis talked about and will be trying it out.
I was interested in learning some Flex, but didn't really have a good place to start and the tutorials were all [OLD]. But this was super helpful, and you gave out Truffles!
Great talk! Appreciated the overview of the different type of release strategies and the pros and cons of how they will impact your time and team. Now have a clearer understanding of it all, and realize that I had correctly stumbled into one on my own :-)
