Great talk! I was familiar with some of this already, but still learned a lot. I downloaded the slides and bookmarked Roger's site for future reference. I give this 4 stars instead of 5 simply because I felt like the presentation got bogged down a bit with the part about getting ssh keys onto the server - there were some sample commands shown, some passing mentions about a couple of methods, but ultimately I didn't feel any more clarity than when he started. Still, he highlighted multiple security resources that warrant further learning.
Thank you Noah! I am happy to hear that you got something you could use.
This talk was very applicable, and it got me to log in and changed some settings in my server as he was talking. Good info, and I'll be revisiting the slides. Thanks
I appreciate the ambitious goal of getting developers to consider working on being better humans and treating people well. I think this talk worked particularly well because of the willingness to talk about her own failings and development in this area. It was very worth hearing and certainly caused self reflection. That being said, I still appreciate a solid expletive filled rant ;)
This talk was interesting and very well presented, but I found it less than compelling in convincing me to use any of these methods.
Great info with great examples. Some of the demos might have gone a little fast. Could have used a slower more deliberate walk though on some of the stuff I was less familiar with.
Fantastic keynote about the intersection — and gaps — between the development, operations, and security communities. Presentation style was effective, and the entire talk was dripping with empathy.
Terrific coverage of a huge topic. Chris hit many of the highlights and provided abundant links as resources. Very well done.
Really informative talk, and the JRPG examples generally seemed to resonate with the audience. A bit more authority (rather than anecdotal evidence, maybe a "I ran these benchmarks on a 512MB Digital Ocean VPS, and here's the output:"-type approach?)
Excellent talk. There were a few awkward moments where Jen asked questions of the audience, but we weren't yet warmed up to the kinds of answers she was looking for. But hey, she easily made up for that in overall communicating the value of calc() and var(), especially in the context of pre-processors.
