Talk comments

Good stuff, but i agree with other comment could have done with more of an overiew of esi and implementation

Introduced me to more things beyond phpunit , job done

Excellent talk by Ian, especially liked the historical references shows the speaker really knows his stuff

I tend to enjoy the more technical talks, but Rowan's was easily one of the best. Excellent recovery from a disasterous start, with plenty of humour mixed in. Very amusing that the talk was so very relevant considering the problems.

Slides were unique and engaging. I was worried it would be rushed to meet the 4pm finish, but he managed to make this up without any noticeable issue.

The use of memes meant i couldnt stop sniggering at the back of the room. I am sorry.

It was a funny engaging talk with good points. I dont know if Craig has spoken before but its a talk that more people should hear ( esp team leads)

Rowan does a great job at picking what seems like a narrow subject, and opening it up and discussing it in more detail than I expect. He delivered the content professionally and coped very well with the technical difficulties at the beginning of his talk. Despite starting late, he kept the talk schedule on time and fielded some useful questions from the audience and answered well.

It was perhaps a little too focussed on delivering estimates for client work, rather than on in-house development (and its needs for accurate estimation), but much of it can be applied to both.

Rowans slide deck used beautiful images, and the copy was perfect, but as I am sure he is now aware, some of the diagrams were not visible on the projector, even to me on the front row.

A superb talk despite the problems getting it started.

15 minutes for a discussion is NOT long enough. brought out some good points and it was nice to have a discussion rather than talks all day. It broke it up for me. Pastey makes some really good points.

Great slide design, entertaining presentation and live demos were icing on the cake, dispite slight WiFi issue. Really interesting content as it's not often you get to see the internals of a big company in this much technical detail.

I was very disappointed with this talk - Juozas spent around 20 minutes selling the audience on the benefits of an ORM layer, which I felt was rather 'preaching to the converted'. I was there to learn about Doctrine 2 specifically and it was 20 minutes into the presentation until we touched on the subject.

I felt the talk was light on detail, with too little detail about how to migrate existing applications (in doctrine 1, or another ORM). Not everyone has the luxury of being able to write web applications from scratch for the release of a new library.

Juozas was rushed at the end for time, but clearly has plenty of experience in both Doctrine 1 and 2 - Just a shame that more of that experience wasn't gotten across during the talk.

Great to watch. Loved the analogy to skating as I had never considered that way of thinking about development previously. Definitely inspiring.
