A little bit too sparse to talk about at the moment but I like the direction that the framework is taking.
Great presentation - everybody I spoke to said it was their favourite of the conference - I dont think they are wrong.
I really enjoyed the humour in Volker's presentation. The start of the talk on unit tests didn't really relate to the title or grab me that much the second half as he moved onto clean code concepts was great. I'm going to present this half back to the team at work who couldn't stay for sunday.
A pleasure to watch, but it really was too much content for the slot.
Good talk and well delivered, though frustrating that there wasn't nearly enough time to give the topics enough depth; this was no fault of Paul's and I'd like to see him talk again on this topic in a longer time slot.
Compiling PHP into .net seems a concept to crazy to implement in the real world but Richard did a great job of outlining how and why they've used it at Jadu, along with the capabilities Phalanger gives. Pragmatic advice was given and the limitations clearly outlined. Richard also dealt well with some frankly naive lines of questioning - "Why don't you just re-educate your customers?". I think the talk would benefit to getting down to details a little earlier - the first ten minutes were spent outlining the why, which seemed a little long.
Particularly enjoyed this as it was not the usual testing message, this was best practices on high profile site with significant legacy code. Came away with a lot of good concrete points that I can immediately put into practice. Agree with some of the feedback above, a little more context about the speaker's background and motivations would have improved things.
Pretty much perfect. Good food and drink. Wii was excellent fun. The venue was suited to circulating, so I ended up seeing far more people than usual.
Nice mix of the business motivations for doing this and the technical details behind it. Presentation style could have done with a bit more enthusiasm as it dragged a bit in places, which was challenging to follow on a Sunday morning. Still, interesting stuff and I'm going to have to look into it a bit more.
I found this talk the most insightful of all that I went to. I enjoyed learning about the execution path of php and having a basic overview of how extensions such as apc improve the technology.
