Clear stuff, but definitely needed to be cut down for the half-hour slot.
Covered topics that I was familiar with but was well delivered and did pick up a couple of useful nuggets (such as the php.ini stuff)
Gutted that your talk was cut short as I was looking forward to listening to the subject in full. Thanks for trying though :)
The presentation was an insightful look into the topics Clinton's students are taught and the methods for teaching but I would recommend trying to borrow more from community created frameworks (even if the learning curve is slightly more challenging), purely on the grounds that there is less of a dis-jointedness between the World of Academia and Enterprise. In my opinion, there's nothing more self-defeating than the feeling of finishing Uni with a great result and struggling to get a job based on experience and exposure to leading software / applications.
If I am brutally honest, I also misunderstood the subject of the presentation prior to entering as I thought that Clinton would be teaching his audience some intricacies of php rather than reviewing his chosen methods of teaching - but this is probably just me being stupid rather than a reflection on the presenter :)
Fantastic and professional recovery from technical meltdown. Being able to see the slides as intended in terms of lighting and in their native format would have topped off the talk. Well thought out, well structured and useful content. Loved the visuals and the humorous and engaging presentation style. Always good value for money.
The best presented presentation (slides were cool.) I struggled to see a real world use case for some of the topics covered such as forking and signals, but I'll be looking into that more now that I've been introduced to them :p
Great insight into Facebook; some interesting and practical points that can work with teams large and small. Casual but engaging presentation style and good interaction with audience. Most enjoyable talk of te day.
I appreciated your enthusiasm that was apparent through the delivery of the topic. One small criticism would be the typos - when trying to learn a new subject from examples, such as this one, it's crucial to make sure there's little to none.
I loved how the topic started but I could have done with having more of a general overview of what ESI was (as the subject is new to me), I would have also liked to know how varnish compares to other popular cache technology such as squid.
Overall, the talk gave me plenty to think about and try, and lots more to learn :)
Obviously need this man to do more speaking. I'll put you down for a few more Sheffield nights. Delivery was nice and relaxed and the content was short and to the point - just right for a lightning talk session.
