It was a good talk, but seemed lacking in preparation
The only thing I would change would be to have a more clear seperation on the diagrams about which was HTTP/1.1 & which was 2.0, I found it hard to work out which was which.
Removed some of the "magic" around auto dependancy injection, very clear & well presented by the speaker who clearly knew the topic.
I'm always disappointed when I go to these talks and learn nothing new, but they always at least re-affirm what I know.
However one thing happened at the end of Juliette's QA that made me rethink how valuable talks like this are. "How do I convince management about this", it's a question that gets asked every year at the end of a talk about metrics, legacy code, agile or anything that I take for granted and it means that the talk has reached at least 1 new person, 1 new team or 1 new company and started them on the journey I started 5 or 6 years ago, and that's why this is such a good talk.
So I'm not disappointed I personally didn't learn anything, I'm pleased that there's someone else who's going to go back to work and push this stuff and make the PHP industry better.
I also loved Juliette's presentation style, bubbly, enthusiastic and passionate about the subject matter.
@PHPNW, don't ever stop accepting these kind of talks.
Fantastic talk. Great speaker. Really engaging.
Probably one of my favourite talks of the weekend
This was a great introduction into the technologies available and how to use them. If you're not using queues and workers and aren't sure why you should you *must* see this talk.
Even as someone who has experience in using these tools, the talk gave some new insights into the best practices and pitfalls, and examples of what you shouldn't do.
The talk is relatively fast paced and covers a lot, but Justin handles it perfectly and left time at the end for a good round of Q&A.
This was an entertaining and interesting talk on the history of how scalar type hints came about and also a look into the internals of PHP.
Unfortunately the talk doesn't fit the time slot. Personally I would have been happy for this to have a longer slot to cover the information Andrea was trying to impart, but in fitting to a conference schedule it would be useful to have a little more of the technical portion not be rushed at the cost of some of the history, but that's just me.
Otherwise Andrea was an interesting and emotive speaker and there were plenty of laughs as well as useful information
Thoroughly enjoyed it.
