Talk comments

I really enjoyed this talk, partly because I'm a big fan of Redis, Nginx, Webdis, and PHP. It was definitely one of the more technical talks. It made me want to go back to my hotel room and try out his approach.

One of the presentations this conference that really showed a lot of code examples, some common pitfalls, and how to handle them. I liked how the presentation walked through the thought process.

I agree with everyone else. It was a lot of info to cover, and covered well for 45 minutes. Some code examples would have bene great, but not sure if you could fit them in with the time given. Maybe next year you could do a tutorial.

Good pacing and a very fair and balanced evaluation of the different options available. Was informative and I picked up a few new things I did not know about before.

This was a good presentation with a demo application. The slides included everything from the architecture of TI Desktop to packaging an application - very thorough!

I would have liked to have seen some more slides dedicated to the Titanium API. Also WebKit was mentioned as the rendering engine, so it would be good to follow with some of the HTML5/CSS3 goodies available to potential developers.

This session introduced a couple of profiling scripts that I have not used. It also helped me to better understand and navigate the logs of tools like Xdebug and XHProf, which makes them more accessible. A LOT of info in a short period of time, but presented in reasonable depth and with demos. Thank you for presenting!

The NoSQL tutorial was definitely one of the more intriguing educational experiences this week. Coming from a background in CMS development and customization, I was very interested in the architecture of BlueInk.

The background on different DBMSs was very well put together, and the explanation of the NoSQL paradigm (along with its uses and pitfalls) was also very good. The transition into CouchDB felt a bit rushed, mostly because it involved installing several of the necessary components. Also Futon demos could have been done in a more progressive fashion, perhaps with the goal of building a small application. They could start with a more basic overview of the interface and then move into advanced features. It is really material for a workshop, which could've taken a whole day.

Altogether a great and challenging presentation -- the type that keep me moving forward as a developer. Thank you!

Thanks for the pirate ship examples; those made the differences very clear. They stuck in my mind much better than the Snoop-Dogg demonstration. And I wouldn't suggest completely deferring microphone use; just when you do have a microphone, project to the back row like you don't.

Good intro to Titanium Desktop with example code and example apps. Nothing spectacular here, but as Matthew said, Appcelerator currently not giving it a lot of love.

Well-delivered, and well-organized content. Would've like to see something like Gearman in action, as opposed to architectural boxes and arrows, but otherwise good talk.
