Ethics is a serious, and often very dry subject. Jess' totally new take on "an ethics talk", including a theoretical example I never thought I'd hear (πΆπ¨), made it the talk of the day for me.
A thoroughly entertaining talk, with an important message - all too often we jump on the legacy code bandwagon for 'reasons', and don't stop to consider the business impact - this talk certainly made me stop and think about my own approach to existing code!
API design is hard - in 15 years as a dev, I don't think I've ever designed an API I'm truly happy with - this talk gave me a number of ideas why! Hopefully my next API will be much better now - thanks Rob!
I though I was pretty good with git.... clearly I was wrong! Some great concepts and new (to me) ways to use git well presented - excited to try them out and take my git-fu to the next level! Thanks Pauline!
I always enjoy Gary's keynotes, and this was no exception. Some important messages for all developers, and a great way to kick off the day!
My remarks on the closing remarks... remarkable.
The speaker commanded the room well. Plently of questions for the audience to consider. Hilarious puppy smashing example. Well done.
Delightful. Always ask for both choices of food. Plenty of time to network.
Good talk with lots of knowledge, I think it had too much content for the time frame, the demo scenario wasn't that complex (just right for a talk) but felt a bit hurried and later in the demo there was a lot going on at speed. Otherwise I learnt a lot and I'll definitely try and start with tests in future.
Great talk! This should be part of the onboarding training given to every developer in a company (junior and senior!)
