I came out of this talk feeling very inspired and ready to do some MAKING! Ben's talk was very refreshing and a was a good lighthearted way of ending the day. Learning more about what makes him tick was great.
An informative talk - it's very interesting to see headless Drupal used in a way that isn't just a website. It seemed odd that there were two presenters but Alick seems to have explained why in another comment. A good technical talk and I look forward to seeing more from Louis.
I know what I'm doing on Monday!! Really clear and informative talk with a lot of quick wins in it. George made the subject of website security much easier to swallow than it seems to be.
Keir's talk was an example of what great stuff the Drupal communiry can learn from non-Drupal people. It was refreshing to hear about the challenges he faces as a freelancer and how he tries to make the lives of other developers better and easier. Keir's a really good speaker, too.
Despite apologising for not actually being a Drupal dev, Dave's talk was one of the most relevant and useful of the day. His approach to developing self-explanatory code is excellent and he was a very clear speaker. A good start to the day.
My only criticism of this talk is that Emma spoke VERY quickly!! But catching up with her afterwards I learned that she thought she'd have an hour to talk instead of 45 minutes. It was an excellent subject and really well thought through. Self-care is something that a lot of our community don't consider much, and it's nice to have a lot more focus on it. What a great keynote!
Alick may have been preaching to the converted (everyone was a Drupal-user) but it was very interesting to hear how Miggle went around the houses and settled on Drupal. Nice to hear the history of an agency rather than the recent work, and to hear more context.
Really interesting to see a different take on Drupal from two people who aren't used to using it all of the time. Speaking to Alison and Ian afterwards, I could see echoes of a normal client relationship - one saying "let's just try this!" and the other groaning and holding their head in their hands - but at a much lower level than we're used to. A very interesting perspective and some very good sites.
Luke is a very good public speaker and held the attention of the audience well. Developers afterwards said they didn't enjoy it but the more business-focused people seemed to - a good talk for a business track, talking about how best to sell your agency's skill sets.
A good mixture of technical and non-technical tips about Drupal site building and freelancing in general.
Ana got a little flustered though mid way through the talk when almost everyone put their hand up after being asked "Who uses Drush", which I think took her aback and worried her that it wasn't relevant or too simple for the audience - although it was labelled as a beginner talk. She continued and finished the talk, and I'm glad she did.
