Yeah, perhaps a little heavy on the goat noises. ;) Yet, the technology demonstrated, the creativity exemplified, and the level of audience engagement was off the charts. This style of talk would appeal to a much wider audience and could help bring more coders to the fold.
One thing that should be mentioned is that the code they used and demonstrated seems to be available on GitHub, so anyone hoping to be able to write a Chrome app could easily grab the code begin to tinker.
I enjoyed it and hope to see this duo again in the future.
Fantastic. Inspired me to want to make a difference not just with code but in the lives of people everywhere.
If you want to tell a bunch of people to stay away from PHP do it on your blog, if you have a bunch of people pay to hear about how to "get started with php" then at least have the respect to prepare some valuable information to present. OpenWest should put a effort into vetting their presenters.
By far my favorite speaker of the conference. In addition to his exceptional technical insight, his wit and easy confidence brought more than a couple smiles.
This was a good talk. Nothing flashy, but direct and to the point. Steve has a real confidence that comes from years of experience, and I was glad to benefit from his insight.
It might be hard for me to be really unbiased about this presentation because not only did it focus on my newest techno crush, angular js, but i also saw Sean shine during his html5 game workshop where i got to really see him and angular in action. All I can say is, good work!
Great information, and a fun lesson. Only complaint was that we didn't have enough time to get really in depth at a lower level, but I learned a lot more on how ALU's work, and it really clicked. The presentation was wonderful, and seeing a working CPU in logisim was great. The multiple times we went to it just made you understand each part individually, and I really hope the best for Timothy's plans for doing this as a class around for schools to get more people the basics of how a computer works, which is what we really need to be better programmers.
I think professionalism is marked not so much by every thing running perfectly to plan, but more so by the quick thinking and positive determination that one shows to resolve any hitches quickly, and still finish strong. Also, as a father of young kids I liked his pictures.
Excellent. This talk is the reason I went to every angular js talk i could throughout the conference.
Good content, decent delivery, overall I give your talk a solid 3.
