Fantastic talk. As much as Cal portrays himself as a joker, he's one of the most genuine, passionate, and thoughtful people I know in the PHP space. It came through in this talk and I learned a little more about the people I share the community with. :)
Aw crap. Now I have more stuff to do.
Really enjoyed this one. It was full of useful background and context that explained a few things I had wondered about.
The slides were fully of valuable information but they were hard to read as is. A little bigger font and/or a direct connection to what Josh was saying at the time would have been helpful.
As is, it was multi-threaded and hard to follow.. but both threads were great.
There were some pretty cool possibilities and this was a good overview.
There's so much hype in tech about "changing the world", but when you narrowly define "the world" as the tiny domain you occupy, it doesn't mean that much. I liked Davey recalibrating what it actually means to change the world in a positive way.
Loved seeing a different perspective on improving as a developer. Also, the slides and font were awesome.
You could probably have just farted for a whole hour and I would have still given you 5 stars.
