Really liked this one. Was a bit worried at the beginning as, yes, the speaker seemed nervous and the whole thing threatened to be weirdly over-thorough at one point, with a definition of "workplace culture" provided in case you needed to know what the devops movement intends to change... but it picked up steam fast and by the end was a truly invaluable rundown of many of the tool, ideas and processes that constitute devops.
Excellent speaker and a fine talk - its only possible flaw being that I feel little the wiser about whether I should be pursuing a Varnish or Nginx route from here! (I guess the correct answer though is, why not both?)
The "wisdom of the sages" ran the risk of feeling a little homespun at times, but overall this was an enjoyable talk. It inspired me to sign up at phpmentoring.org so perhaps it will change my life after all!
Great to see mentions to #thintheherd and mhprompt.
Also good to zoom out and see the bigger picture of all the open source we use everyday, and the amount of work done by all the contributors _together_.
Really interesting talk, now maybe I don't have much of a practical application for it (at the moment!) but it was really interesting to get insight into the process of changing a system like this and the problems it throws up in addition to all the potential benefits.
When mentioning unicode, use pile-of-poo. Well done :-)
The content was fairly basic, so maybe not for everyone - but I can definitely see it being useful for newer developers and helping them take their first steps into collaborative work.
Really informative talk, lots of new tricks to learn. Thanks! :D
The material in the talk was fairly interesting and having an actual demo was great, but, there were a few snags/hiccups and I think these need ironing out a bit.
Fun talk full of really useful tips. I would recommend a picture of the Twin Peaks log lady to illustrate the "slow log query".
