Really informative and entertaining talk (Especially for the hangover slot). I liked the real world example and feel like he covered a lot of information at a good pace. This has inspired me to go and use it in my next project!
Only downside is that I wish we had more time to finish the slides.
Thanks Thjis
Good introduction to event sourcing. Would be interesting to see an example from the speaker with more of an emphasis on reading the data.
The "rants" made for a really entertaining talk! I liked how you explained the PHP internal processes and the reasons certain decisions have been made.
Also, it was encouraging for you to suggest compiling your own PHP to see how its working at a lower level. Cant wait for PHP7!
Thanks Andrea
An unexpected but great talk - heavy in places, but absolute respect to Stefan for opening up in that way.
Some things we all need to be on the lookout for not just ourselves, but in our fellow devs as well!
Seemed a bit rushed in places, I think there was a bit more content than 20 minutes would allow for, but some good points that I'm going to take back to work!
Very interesting to see a real world example of this architecture. I cant relate it to any of my own projects, but it is useful to know that is has been achieved and at such a large scale!
Thanks Michael
I always find these type of talks interesting. I think the point was that humans are not robots, so you cant manage them like that?
I will be using the purpose, autonomy, mastery and inclusion principles definitely!
Thanks Meri!
A lot of effort went into getting scalar types hints into the core and it was interesting to see the blockers along the way.
Great to hear advocating building php from source and contributing patches.
Great presentation style packed with content, shame no time for Q&A. Having relatable examples really helped - Showing SQL query alongside equivalent Elastic search REST Query was a nice touch.
Good introduction to the PHP database drivers and Andrew seemed to be really enthusiastic about the topic. Also good to know mysqlnd is the default driver in PHP 5.4+, but will definitely try this out on any projects using a lower version of PHP.
One negative, maybe too much time was spent at the start about the free tools his company provides, I found it a little irrelevant to the rest of the talk.
