Valuable content, but was a bit too much into blaming agencies. So the speaker definitely did has some quite bad experience, but besides that also product companies might have a bad company culture. And there are also agencies which are valuable to work for. It was also a bit too much focused on blaming cleints and project manager, but the coin has two sides. You should also care about communicating skills from the dev side. So if you complain everytime about the deadline, but deliver anyway, of course the preople will expect that you also deliver next time properly with an even short deadline.
As a long time php'r, I did not expect to enjoy a talk on OOP. But this talk reminded me there's still lots to learn, and php still rocks. Thanks.
Nice to see ZF represented at php-world. Thanks Evan, I now know how to correctly inject my controllers :)
The history MVC and UI patterns in general was fascinating, and the ADR pattern seems to match web application semantics much closer than the alternatives.
Hilarious presentation of the strengths and weaknesses of the SPL. I'm inspired to go help improve the documentation!
Fantastic content, and elegant organization with Git tags. The volume of code covered coupled with (unfamiliar to me) Symfony paradigms made the topic switches challenging to follow at times; I'd love to see this as a tutorial (or another slower-paced context).
Just posted slides.
Great insights on building something that will last longer than the six-months-to-acquisition pipeline.
I found this very informative. It was nice hearing the history of Joomla - seeing where it has been and where it is going. David was very engaging and knowledgable.
Great talk with lots of insights and details about moving from concept to company. It was great to hear about all the pain points you don't hear about in articles and during regular interviews. Very enjoyable and well laid out.
