always nice to hear real life scenarios and its solutions
For me, this is a very complex component. So, don't just say what all the classes are for (there are docs for that). Just highlight the most important ones and glance over the rest. Show more code / demo / cases / examples in the talk. The component seems great but I still have trouble getting my mind around it.
Progressive rewrite is the way to go. I didn't know about the existing bundles. Good talk! Nice examples.
Good talk, well brought. As a user of both the component and the bundle there was not a lot of new things in it for me.
Great presentation. I learned a lot. Very good code examples.
Just one thing, try to avoid putting light grey annotations on a dark grey background. I was unable to read it.
I saw this at PHPBNL12 and it was much better. Seemed like you were not really interested this time (maybe the audience was to blame). But reading the other comments, it seems like I'm the only one that felt this way.
Great talk and well explained the SOLID principles. But, not all procedural code is spaghetti / STUPID. Non-OO does not automatically mean legacy. I think the most important thing is having tests so you are able to refactor to SOLID.
It was not supposed to be the same talk about only Hadoop, Tom :) But yes, there's so much stuff to talk about and so little time... :(
I saw this talk on PHPBNL12 and it was better. It had more details (like on HDFS). And the demo with multiple laptops was awesome. Now, some things got rushed trough. Nice that there were new tools/projects at the end of the talk. Maybe you just need to get more time for this talk. Also, there was no time for questions left.
