I can't remember if this is a thing or not, but I think I've heard that "live code" is a hard thing to pull off well for a talk. I think that was definitely the case here. The slides were reasonably well laid out otherwise (big overviews) so I think that the overall direction was pretty nice but switching screens and live code editing was very distracting.
Despite the difficulties a general overview of some high level Laravel concepts was delivered. I think that it might have been more difficult for someone new to many of these concepts to follow, though?
I think Paul did a great job giving a talk about how his business got started, along with interesting technical details and real world insight.
Focused a bit more on general security concerns and a bit less on those specific to authentication than I anticipated, but still a good security talk.
It was really nice to hear how a project morphed from a "simple" Cilex based CLI application into something more that required a little extra help from Silex and Twig. I appreciated the "less technical" approach as it focused more on decision making.
Clean presentation.
Thanks for reminding use not all the projects need mighty/powerful framework to do the job, and few php files' projects are also less headache for none (PHP) dev.
Great overview of different methods to secure REST APIs. Covered some pros and cons of each implementation, as well as good and bad practices and conventions.
Enjoyed the talk. Nice to hear about reacting to changing business requirements, and even more so making arguably hard decisions to accommodate team (maintainer) requirements.
Disclaimer: fellow bootstrapper.
Entertaining talk, but would have liked to hear more about the struggles rather than focusing on the business performance. Had several more questions but ran out of time. Was nicely balanced with some technical details.
Really enjoyed the talk. The slides kept it playful, but the underlying architecture discussions were valuable. I'm already familiar with Silex, so the skipping was actually nice.
A good general overview of security concerns for applications and API applications more specifically. While a bit general at times, I can understand it is difficult to be both specific and broadly applicable at the same time. Overall, I really enjoyed the talk.
