Lorna stepped in at the last minute to present this talk but you wouldn't have known. REST is a potentially dry subject, but Loran delivered the information in a very enthusiastic manner and also provided he personal thoughts on the subject wherever possible.
Very informative.
Ian covered what I took at Google's approach to WDSL. However, it's a much more accessible version, defined in JSON, with some very clever client libraries which dynamically understand the object types as defined in the service definitions.
Would love to dig into this further and Ian provided plenty of information to take away and then play with the technology.
Really interesting fromt the point of view of API builders too.
Very informative and clearly presented.
Fun demos - even when the wi-fi in the room was a bit iffy.
The demos were well judged. The talk was an excellent mixture of "elephant in the room" debugging techniques, specific tools and how it all fits together.
I enjoyed this whistle-stop tour through some of the more sophisticated features of HTTP. Like all good protocols HTTP's simplicity belies its power.
It is always fun to have a presenter give some personal opinions about how a technology should be used.
A very informative talk combined with a pragmatic view of REST. I arrived with a bunch of questions in mind, had those answered and left with a whole different bunch. Most satisfyingly, Lorna answered those questions the very next day in her talk on HTTP debugging.
It was very interesting to see the systematic use of profiling tools in improving the users' experience.
Really enjoyed the talk about the practical side of things.
The material and demos were spot on, the delivery was excellent, if you have a chance do not miss this talk.
Rob covered the reasons behind the marketplace for open web apps and Firefox OS, as well as information on all the presently available APIs and ones that may come along in the future. I knew that these things existed prior to Rob's talk, I'm no much more informed.
