Talk comments

Positive energy, memorable quotes, inspiring ideas. Thanks!

Even though graphics is not my thing, this talk was a good introduction on svg. Ross is a very good speaker and finds always ways to make his talks pleasant.

1. I was confused when the presentation started. I rarely take notes on paper and I do it only if I can't write down my thoughts on an electronic device. I wouldn't be confused if the title was "Be more productive by taking better hand-written notes".

2. I heard about new ways of organizing my space on paper, and I really liked that.

3. Missing pictures was an issue to me. I was not familiar with this kind of vocabulary.

4. How do you take notes if you're on a 20 min. bus ride? I had some of the best ideas when coming back from work. I would appreciate to hear advices about taking notes on a phone, a computer or a tablet.

The scavenger hunt was indeed a great success. I tend to have a serious lack of social skills and this was the perfect way to meet new people. Not all groups went exactly from one hint to the other, but we are developers: we live our lives hoping to optimize time.

Food was also great and the ice cream (at the hotel) was superb!

Very nice talk. The only thing I missed is a summary at the end and the titles of all the movies you referenced.

Other than that... a perfect talk.

Fun talk!

I agree with Jeroen in the sense that the animated gifs were a bit distracting.

Some parts of the talk (in the beginning) were a bit boring and lacked a bit of flow, but the slides after the first part were ok. It could have been the nerves that played a role there.

The ending was pretty good. My suggestion would be to keep the focus only on the projects you have worked with and to tell a bit more history of fotomontagens during the presentation to build up a steady pace towards the end.

Great talk as always.

I hate working with graphic elements so I wasn't really sure if I would be able to keep myself focused on the entire talk but is was indeed very interesting and very illuminating as well.

I don't really know if you have a NDA of some kind (I assume there is), but it would have been nice to show some example screenshots of the final product, in order to show the audience what you can achieve when you put some effort and time in it, beyond some basic examples.

Interesting talk, however, there is some room to improvement:

1- When you talked about different kind of pens, please include a picture of every one, I consider myself to be proficient in English but it ain't my native language so I'm not really familiar with the name of a pen type and associating them with the mental picture of the one you're describing.
2- It would be nice to give some more attention to digital formats, or at least the emphasis on why not to use them.

Great talk introducing cryptography to the audience.

In my personal opinion, it could be improved with two slides:
1- A slide dedicated to mention different encryption methods throughout history (maybe a quick overview of pro's and con's of each). This was briefly mentioned during the talk or maybe the questions but a slide with it would certainly help.
2- A bit of history: it is clear that it originates from the fact that we don't want Pink Floyd to read everything we write, but what about the gap between that first moment and now? It is just history but it would help to give the talk as a whole a better context on why it is so important.
