I want to use Docker now! Seriously knowledgeable speaker who was not afraid to say "this technology should probably not be used in production", but made me want to explore it on my dev machine ASAP.
Live demo could have gone better, but Patrick dealt with the issues he had very well.
Lots of great suggestions for would-be devops folks and those already knowledgeable about the topic. Good overview of some useful tooling available.
Putting this as the opening keynote was a great way to bring attention to a topic that needs it. As a bonus, you get great SEO!
Would have liked some more concrete information about a11y and implementation. Looking forward to the slide deck if Joe posts it.
Your talk and personal experience were insightful, and as with the closing keynote I was happy to see that it asked us to consider our roles as developers from other perspectives. The organizers did well asking you to address the conference about accessibility and your performance was fantastic as well.
The content of your talk and your confident delivery made it clear you knew what you were talking about, and I was glad to see that you put emphasis on some of the little things that one might not find in any given tutorial or blog post. You were engaging and knowledgeable.
You brought just the right about of practical explanation and levity to a subject that is at its core very technical and often hard to grok. Good job all around.
You did a great job of distilling why someone who might have deliberately avoided Drupal in the past may very well want to take a fresh, no-preconceptions look at D8, and did so with excellent delivery. Nice work, sir.
You own appreciation and passion for open source was palpable. You gave us all plenty to think about and no excuse not to find a way to give back to the people and projects we depend on. Wonderful keynote.
This talk was well delivered in a very approachable tone with humor well-placed. Eryn has a great confident delivery, and her story-telling skills are fantastic. A suggestions for the talk would be to have a few more stories about events and dissecting what happened and then what should have happened. The advice within the "real" life stories are what really hooked me in for this talk (versus the slides where advice was more listed) and are what are really sticking with me after the talk. All in all, thoroughly entertaining and educational (edutaining?), and I am working on a much more structured incident plan as a result. Thank you!
Awesome to see so many supportive folk in the room. I really wish this could have been a keynote, as the issue of sexism in our industry deserves way more attention than it gets. Panelists, not all women was a fantastic choice -- Knowing Gary has daughters (as I have a daughter) was a point that resonated with me and helped make me more open to understanding and accepting what I can do as a man in tech.
Much applause to Beth for sharing what she did; that must have been a very difficult thing to do. Very well negotiated around an emotional and scary topic that was well received by all attendees.
