Excellent talk, think it explained things well. I'm not sure if you defined JIT, can't recall. Also, as I asked in Q&A, it's confusing that you say a Trancing JIT does no optimisations - perhaps say it does nothing AOT in the slides for clarity?
Very nice overview of tools to assist in development.
The tool suggested looks really useful for rapid tests, but the presenters passive aggressive and intimidating approach prohibited any valuable discussion. Instead of an attack on BDD, the talk would be more engaging if the talk was about this new tool and how to use it. The talk was interesting, and the speaker was good, but the whole thing was a bit of a straw man argument without much to takeaway other than "BDD sucks". But, it was provocative and may help people reassess if BDD is really working for them. Sorry, I just didn't find it constructive, on the whole.
Great content and well researched subject, even when I don't agree with the approaches displayed
Again proof Anthony knows what he talks about and is passionate on the subject. Awesome he made something academic into easy to follow subject, even if you don't have a CS degree. Job well done.
Interesting insight of the different compilers available. Most of the stuff discussed were way beyond my knowledge but interesting nevertheless.
Great talk, very interesting and passionate speaker and the material was well presented! Definitely inspired me to take a more detailed look at hack / hhvm
While Derrick is obviously very smart / passionate about xdebug parts seemed poorly planned and he was quite dismissive about php debug extension. Kind of disappointing as I was hoping for more
The content of the talk was a great introduction to refactoring and the speaker presented the material in a concise manner. However I was hoping for more advanced concepts with the title including the word "practical", rather than just an introduction to the topic
Firstly, even though English wasn't the speakers native language, there was no problem getting the points across. The presentation was a little monotonous in places, but this will no doubt develop naturally with more experience.
It's always difficult to talk about a new technology, but the key points were presented giving a good overview without getting too in-depth and losing the audience.
Timing was a little off (ran short) but again, this week develop with further talks and experience.
