Haven't used phpbb in about 10 years, it was a nice trip down memory lane and interesting to see how you'd integrated symfony components and other libraries. Whilst your talk style did seem a little fast paced at times you were also very engaging which went down well on a second day talk.
Apologies for disturbing things, had an emergency come up and had to duck out of the room early.
Although the speaker had to put up with stifling heat in the room and no microphone, I thought he did a good job on (as his first conference talk) remaining relaxed and confident about the knowledge he was trying to put across. I thought he had spoken many times before. We went through the code slides rather fast and although I was able to keep up with what Chris was saying, I think others may have had a problem with keeping up to speed with the fast progression - I had never done anything with event sourcing before. I am looking forward to Chris's next talk.
This was a great talk and, imho, the best one for me at this conference. Not only was the content interesting and the slides and speaker engaging, but he actually showed REAL examples for everything from workers to how to get them working with queuing systems. Many other talks didn't do this - I'm a very visual learner so being able to see how everything worked together was great.
This talk really did it for me and unfortunately although I didn't get the chance to talk to Justin after the talk I hope this very positive review suffices. I've now got lots of interesting and cool stuff to have a play with in PHP.
Great talk and has given me lots to think about as I spend more of my time in a team lead role supporting other developers.
Now to go and buy a couple of the recommended books...
I don't think the talk quite matched the description / title of the talk. Was hoping for some more information about some advanced approaches, some of the 'gotchas' people fall into and perhaps a bit more detail on some of the approaches to testing legacy code.
With the first presentation running quite a bit under time, it was well recovered with going through samples in other talks, but it did feel like something was missing.
Great talk - very informative and entertaining.
Enjoyed going into the detail on how to write code for workers and how they should be structured. I am about to start writing some queue workers, so this came at the right time.
Excellent talk, that took courage, was fun, and dealt with an important topic. Thanks!
Very informative on the goings on with PHP development. Something I should probably pay more attention to in the future as it looks like things will be getting much slicker. Loved seeing the numerous code examples .
