Great subject and a good talk; I especially liked the way Mike showed how we can seek help ourselves when problems arise. My only criticisms would be the lack of Open Source (badly titled?) and the slides could be more polished. Neither really detracts though.
Really fun overview to using queuing systems.
Easily the best talk I attended at PHPNW, good job!
I'm tempted to just give a 4-thumbs rating and not giving any constructive feedback ;)
But seriously: I love case studies of projects (open source or corporate) migrating to frameworks to see what challenges they run into, and given my previous involvement with phpBB, this was especially interesting. Michael did a good job explaining the challenges and showing examples.
My main constructive criticism would be that at some moments the pace was too high, making it a bit harder to follow. I've suffered from this a lot in my talks as well, and it's really hard to prevent, but try and speak more slowly (have a look at how Lorna Mitchell is doing that. She is awesome at this).
The subject was really interesting, but it was really hard to concentrate on the talk and the slides. Some slides (especially with code) were handled pretty quickly while I could've used a bit more time to process what was in there. It didn't help that the room sound system was pretty much non-existant so it was hard to hear the speaker, plus it was really warm in the room, but that meant losing concentration too much and losing the story at some point about halfway.
Good talk very clear and simple structure
Slight typo in code examples for __construct (apologies the proofreader in me could not get past it)
I've been way too busy too have a serious look at PHP7, and this talk was extremely useful in getting up to speed. I'm always impressed by Lorna's speaking style, she explains everything very clear. Thanks Lorna.
Really awesome keynote. I took away quite some interesting lessons from this and I've added some books to my reading list after this one. Thank you very much.
Great talk. Made me want to go home and write a search engine. :-)
