I don't agree with Ralf, but rather feel Thomas was enthusiastic about Sonata Admin. This made at least me want to dive in and see what's it all about.
There *was* too much in-depth information though and I was constantly lost among the details. It could definitely have used some more "why" and "what" and less "how".
The code examples could have been stripped down to require less knowledge about the context and only focus on what the current topic was.
Still though, Thomas did make me interested and I think with some polishing I would like to hear the 2.0 version of this talk.
Very professionally executed. You are both excellent speakers, talking time to drive your points home with well founded arguments.
Personally I don't much like promoting open source on the basis of personal gain. Of course that's an aspect of contributing but I would have liked a dash more community and global perspective of the benefits.
Like your very inspirational introduction!
I think the talk was good. Especially, as Igor pointed out, how you promoted pragmatism. Without barring beautiful solutions.
It could have been more concrete though. In hindsight I have trouble recollecting most of your points, so maybe you could have summarized some few bullets to take home? And/or driven the points home with real world examples.
Good energy and well structured information. It was really inspirational and I can't think of anything you didn't cover, without going into too much detail.
It would have been interesting to hear more real world examples of when to use Silex and when not to.
very good and maximum sympathetic & very inspiring talk from FabPot! Great KeyNote!! Thanks for that :-)
Fabien is not only very knowledgeable in the Symfony Components (obviously) but he also have a knack for passing this knowledge on and explaining how it all comes together.
The passion Fabien has for Symfony is really contagious and inspirational. Afterwards you just want to go home and write a lot of awesome software!
I learned a lot during this workshop and it alone made the trip to Cologne worth it for me.
Some concrete and constructive criticism:
- Give pause when writing a small snippet of code before moving on. It would be nice to be able to reflect more on what you are writing, rather than just copy your code.
- You write use statments really quick but for one not as familiar with the structure of the components it's hard to keep up once you're done and scrolls down to write more code.
Thanks for a great workshop!
good talk and very good examples!
speaker should speak a little bit more clear & more slowly, and a little bit more without the "british speed & accent"
very good talk, very inspiring!
good overview.
but very hard to understand because of the heavy french accent and less enthusiasm by the speaker
You could really tell Hugo is a professional trainer. This talk was very well executed! Good slides, nice pace and all the time following a red line with each example building upon the last.
Now I can't wait until I get to the point in my project where I need to create commands.
If you do it again (and I think you should) I would recommend adding in some message queue integration. Like we talked about after the session.
