Brilliant, just brilliant. I feel way better about my failures now! :-)
5 out of 5, no doubt. I had plenty opportunities to see this talk, but I always missed out. I'm happy to have seen it now, because I learned some very valuable lessons regarding the topic of estimation.
I'll definitely talk some of the vital points back to the office and apply it in practice.
Brilliant motivational talks by a very experienced speaker. I always enjoy watching Josh in action because its more than just the talk, it about the all-round performance.
Good job, keep it up !
Thoroughly enjoyed this closing keynote! Some excellent points, and floating RC shark can't be a bad thing!
A nice clear introduction into the various cloud services available; how they can work together without resulting in vendor-lock-in; and an overview of common pitfalls, pros and cons.
It's easy for people to talk of ideal methodologies and doing things right with greenfields projects; we can easily forget that most developers will be supporting a lot of legacy code that still 'works' and keeps the client happy. Very interesting talk on the various approaches available to help build confidence in ongoing support of a legacy codebase.
A fascinating insight into how alternative presentations of the same data can help or hinder communication of facts and ideas. Especially nice to be reminded how flexible SVG can be when scripted!
Very much enjoyed this talk. Never had an opportunity to look at Node, despite hearing lots of pros and cons about it. A nice gentle introduction, aided with some working examples is always nice - good work Mike!
Ditto what Rick said, although I can't speak to Rowan's dancing skills :-P Very good points pertinent to what I'm doing at the moment.
Kev is a great speaker and he's very funny and engaging, but this talk had more in it.
Using funny pictures is always a good trick, but don't overuse them. The same thing applies to bashing and offensive language. Again: it's a good strategy, but don't overuse it.
I also felt the pace of the talk was a bit off. But in essence there is lots of potential in this talk, but it needs to be less chaotic. I would also advise 75% off the intro.
Nevertheless, I want to see this talk again in an optimized form.
