I have learned a great deal from this session. I have used memcached before, but even then, it was very insightful to learn what I could have done differently. Excellent stuff Andrei!
I attended the session with low expectations, as I thought it was going to be about the basics of ZF, and the MVC pattern. But I was pleasantly surprised. It started of with a bit of Zend_Tool and Zend_Application. Two new components I know virtually nothing about. Then there was some stuff that I did know, but it was still interesting to see how Matthew used everything in his examples. (Zend_Auth, Zend_Acl, Zend_Db_Table, ...)
After lunch break, I enjoyed the demo about using Zend_Form as an input filtering & validation chain. The explanation about Plugins & Decorators was also something I was curious about.
All in all, the session had the ideal amount of detail for me, and I'm very glad I have attended it. One of the conference highlights. Good job Matthew.
More a course for a school class than for professional PHP developers. No wonder that the magic was over after 30 minutes. Poor.
Working with ZF (only) for several month now, I actually could not get any useful in-depth knowledge out of this talk.
Moreover I'd have wished to hear some critics on ZF where appropriate, but instead every point raised by the audience was neglected and it felt like a promotion for ZF. Even obvious weaknesses were wiped off with doubtful explanations.
A good closure of these great days. Thank a lot for all the new ideas and confirmation that we are doing things right :)
Excellent talk, really useful, well presented. And nice jacket.
So many useful tools and topics covered in the one workshop.
More please!
This was a good one, nice to get an overview of all the various tree-structures. Proceeding at top speed, which was good I think, but would like to review all of this at home on my own time... Maybe some more links next time? In terms of content: grrreat!
A technical topic, very well presented and pitched at a great technical level.
A good way to start your day packed with sessions, is attending a keynote from Andrei. It was highly amusing, while still giving a good overview about the past, present and future of PHP.
