Talk comments

Little bit disapointed that here were no code examples in the talk of best practises. It was a little bit hard to follow with your accent but there is nothing you can do about that. Good luck with your next presentations.

Interesting to see how Cal approached cli via ZF. Some interesting ideas in <blink>His Way</blink>.

Pity the example didn't work, maybe try it before the talk next time ;-)

Good talk. Lot's of examples.

I'm afraid i have to agree witg 'gekkie' about that. It really was more of a sales pitch than how to develop high performance php applications.
The only usefull thing for high performance was connection pooling. The rest was just sales, and some usefull stuff about developing in general

The speaker is very knowledgable and it shows. It's hard to find the balance on the thin line between overview and in-depth for this subject with a diverse audience like this, but I think the speaker did manage this. Speaking personally, I feel that the introduction & IPv6 overview is stretched a little bit too long. Also, the PHP function that maps IPv4 and IPv6 to packed addresses might have been part of the presentation since it's such a big design pitfall for most beginners.

yeah. I've seen this talk in various incarnations and every single time it simply blows me away. *Awesome* talk, thanks Aral!

Try to have your drawings included in your sheets, that way you can practice on explaining the core of the drawing, instead of the drawing itself. Also try not to talk about doctrine, as not everybody is well knows with it. More examples would have been nice.

I already have the 5.0 certificate, so I was mainly interesting to see the new PHP 5.3 stuff, however the "old" stuff was actually quite refreshing for me. One of the most important things I (re-)learned was how I should read, then read again, and read a third time, just to make sure that I've read things correctly. Sorry for having to leave early, but this session definitely has helped me in making sure I'm ready for the exam.

Interesting talk, showing the performance benefits that can be obtained with some simple tuning of IIS, with a host of tips to get the best performance. The demonstration showing the use of Wincache really showed how much an app's speed can be boosted, and the use of the Wincap tool showed an alternative to apache bench for testing the site under a bit of stress.

Problem was squeezing so much into a 45 minute talk... it's just too much to demonstrate in a short time. Fortunately, the slides should be online soon.

funny and inspiring. Might not be as technical as expected from a conference like this, but inspiring nonetheless.
