Andrew obviously knew his stuff, but the tlk suffered because he tried to present too much information in a sort talk. The talk was also described as a talk on how to build a restful interface but it really didn't go there. The talk started with an example API (creating a URL shortener) but that example was never followed through on.
I would have much rather seen a very broad talk on the steps to building an API with less information on the details of http return codes, etc.
Given all that o'm now glad I know about Andrew and will likely explore his books as I deepen my learning.
very informative talk. the room was about 85 degrees so I barely made it through.
talk was too short. Heather is obviously knowledgeable and personable but I think she rushed maybe because she was unsure of her audience. Better luck next time!
the "101" is misleading, this was a very informative presentation with a lot of general concepts and practices presented. the coward "anonymous" above completely missed the point obviously, which is not about which encryption scheme is boss, but that you should validate and inspect all your inputs. Not all of us are beset by hackers, some of us just have minor mischief and blowups.
Rick sold me on Git. I immediately set it up and started using it last night. It gives me a warm fuzzy feeling that I haven't had when developing. Good presentation, enthusiastic speaker.
A very good presentation. Json vs JsonP would have been better explained with examples of the output. But I learned some very useful things and am glad I attended!
I may not have learned how to deploy on Amazon but I now know the question to ask and understand my options are
Holy Crap my brain shorted out about halfway through this from all the new concepts. Sheeri : Awesome.
Sheeri is amazing. The only bad thing about this presentation was that it was only 45 minutes long.
Jeremy did a great job with his presentation and is a good speaker. I found the topic to be to broad and while it met its objectives, it was not very useful/helpful. There was clearly too much to cover and as such none of it was covered in any useful length.
