I can for sure that almost everybody was hoping to get some Chocolate Chip Cookies at the end of the talk! :-)
A very nice talk! The way you approached the subject, I just found it fantastic. It was a really nice talk to listen to, well structured, an excellent way to close of an amazing event.
Looking forward to more talks of you Elizabeth, see you on DPC? :-)
To be hones I really didn't know what to expect from this talk. I was surprised by the approach and in the end the solution that was suggested.
I wasn't really convinced that a code factory would really solve this problem or make life easier. But as said in the talk, you need to make a decision, do you want to be Joda (Developer) or Darth Vader (Businessman). I think it's a talk that could lead into several interesting discussion.
So to round up, an interesting talk, a talk that make you think, maybe start a good discussion.
I was really interested in the subject and how Varnish actually works, don't really know a lot about it. I had the feeling that Jeroen was a bit unsure and that gave the feeling if he wasn't that well prepared. But I can say for sure that wasn't the problem.
The topics were very well explained and I got a good insight in how Varnish works and how it needs to be used. The examples given with the autotrack.nl were very use full!
My advice would be to write much less on you slides, so that you do not start looking at them during. Maybe just write some small cards, with a few keywords on them to help you during the talk.
To be hones, this was for me the talk I was looking forward to the most! But as the talk started I didn't really got a feeling that Rob was really enthusiastic about zf 2.0
As the talk went along I could actually understand a bit why..
Of course it would have been so cool to announce that zf 2.0 would be launched within a few weeks, but since there is still a lot of work to be done and things to decide it just wasn't possible.
The talk in general was good and I got a good insight in which direction zf 2.0 will go, we got some nice examples on how things will work in zf 2.0 (e.g. namespaces) and what the benefits are.
Looking forward to zf 2.0, whenever it will be done :-)
Very useful talk. I'm benchmarking our framework now and it seems to be doing really good. From now on we will evaluate our benchmark results for the stuff we build more carefully and test according to the steps you defined.
For me this talk was to technical. Although it was interesting to see how Facebook solved a large problem by creating HipHop I didn't understand everything and that made me sometimes lose interest during the talk.
The live example in compilation was cool to see and really shows what a big difference HipHop does make.
My advice would be to maybe make the talk a bit less technical, and show more examples.
A very nice talk by Paul! Well brought and with so much energy, passion, it was just really fun to listen to.
As for me, I didn't really know a lot about benchmarking, and I learned a lot from your talk. It also made me curious to go and do some benchmarking myself and it made me realize that benchmarking really is an important aspect in the development of an application or a website.
Great talk overall!
Very nice and compleet talk with great examples. I really liked this presentation.
Nice to see that there are more map providers than just Google.
Although it didn't really come out extremely well, the idea about Azure is very intriguing.
For future talks, I'd like to advise to use one speaker with one clear story.
Personally I liked Maarten's best. It was informative and refreshing, although not very in depth.
Katrien seemed very apologetic and defensive. Don't be. You are Microsoft. You created something cool. Own that.
I'd like to advise to Michelangelo that we are not dumb code monkeys that can be bribed by beer. The joke is funny once, but it started to get insulting after the umpteenth time.
We (most of us) are not there to bash Microsoft. We want to learn new tools to create awesome stuff.
