Really well delivered talk, but I also think he may have been preaching to the choir and it wasn't overly relevant to people not running a business.
An important message though, so worth spending some time on it ;)
I've started commenting with the intention of using phpDocumentor and this was exactly what I was hoping for, a good guide to where to start and how to do things properly from the beginning.
(I also agree that PHPStorm is great!)
A non-trivial topic (I used to find it difficult to teach to undergrads) - well handled by a novice speaker. Cons: Not much eye contact with the audience, and rather hesitant delivery, lots of (too many) slides (some good, some a bit lacking). Pros: always good to watch an enthusiast at work, very entertaining. Shame we didn't get to see the details of the Mandlebrot app.
I found the content of this talk really useful. The comparison of different types of NoSQL, when to use them and examples of uses and solutions really helped me understand the bigger picture better and it's not something I'd been through before.
It did sometimes seem like there was a bit too much detail and then some detail had to be omitted because of it being in a presentation so it was a little bit confusing in places, but I never felt lost during the talk.
Really interesting content, not too heavy for the morning after, and I loved the cat videos <3
Talk was delivered well at a good pace and Rowan is very entertaining!
I was hoping this talk would have made it so deploying on AWS as easy as "click here and here, now you're done" but it made me appreciate PAAS a lot more! It gave me enough information to be confident in giving it a try myself though, and untangled where to begin.
Talk was delivered well with a sense of humour and I feel like I was given enough information to go and give Silx a try, it's now on the top of my list!
Having not used Symfony, I wasn't intending to come to this talk, but the talk I was going to attend was full.
I'm actually glad it changed! It was really useful to see how Symfony components could be used outside of Symfony and made me think about integrating bits into existing systems.
I would need to research into what components Symfony has, since I'm not familiar with it and there wasn't time to go through many in the talk, but I found it much more useful in the talk finding out how to go about using them.
I can read up on the details later in my own time and look at things specific to my needs.
Jakub came across very knowledgeable, if a little nervous about speaking for the first time, but I expect that's common on first time talks!
The content was really useful for me as for my next project I want to mess around building and API. Was a really useful overview of best practice ideas without going into too much detail, and was well delivered.
Fantastic speaker and excellent delivery.
This changed my approach to development. As has the conference as a whole. This taught me problems are to be tackled head on and they are not to be skirted around or ignored.
