Nice to have some information about a contributor instead of the regular user point of view. Learned some nice behind the scenes stuff.
Very good presentation with in-depth insights on HipHop and live onstage hacking. Also reflects the great things deverlopers are coding at FB.
One of the best talks at DPC10.
Introduction to various search engines such as Sphinx, Lucene & Solr. Intelligent speaker that gave some great hands-on (PHP) demo's.
Johannes had a great talk on the innards of PHP. He offered practical performance advise and things to avoid. I like his calm way of presenting difficult subjects and his openness to discussion.
It took me a few minutes to work out Lorenzo's english, but after that the talk was interesting. I would've like more depth though, because he stated the obvious quite a few times. It didn't feel like a talk for a programmer, I guess.
The title was a bit misleading, as Ilia moved on to optimization tips after a few slides, but it was a great talk. Ilia offered clear code examples and great tips. The one on output buffers was new to me, and I'll be sure to try it.
Good talk, clearly presented.
Really cool! Johannes gave a preview of the mysqlnd-query-cache plugin they're planning to release. The project itself is already really cool, because it gives you transparant access to memcached/apc caching for your queries. Johannes made it even better by answering questions on the project and giving details about things they're planning.
I was a little bit disappointed, because a lot of time in the talk was dedicated to rants. I don't mind rants, but they should give me something to take home.
At the end Sebastian gave some nodejs example, which were interesting, I would've like to see more.
I heard a lot of good things about this talk, but never had the chance to see it. Ian has the reputation of being a professor and proved to make good on that reputation.
Very technical, lots of algorithms, but quite easy to understand. Mission accomplished!
