A lot of good content but the delivery lacked enthusiasm (possibly due to the frustration with the screen saver kicking in every few minutes!) - I was left feeling like things went slowly and the talk could have been done in half the time.
Not a *bad* talk - still some very good points and a good mix of content and examples.
Exactly what it said on the tin - always a pleasure to listen to Derick's voice, the informed content and "active" delivery come as a bonus!
great stuff, made my head hurt after a while tho..
great talk which made clear the fact that exclusivity is no longer required when it comes to choosing a framework. Skoop made a great case for Symfony alongside Zend Framework and this is certainly something i'll try in the future.
Nice insight into the inner workings of the folk really doing php.
Good quality heckling from the PHPrincess too!
Great illustration of the steps for dropping new tools and working practices into an organisation. And the analogy ramped up the accessibility.
"We got the tools, we got the talent!" - Winston Zeddemore.
good talk, well presented, with good analysis into best practices we should all follow.
Sorry but i was very disappointed with this talk. Like previous poster has mentioned it was far too copy-paste-centric. Had really hoped for a good overview of the framework, its features/advantages over alternatives etc but we got none of this. Disappointment was final when i questioned the speaker about why he had promoted the framework as being aimed at "enterprise level websites", I asked what features exactly made this the case. Unfortunately the speaker couldn't really identify any.
Well delivered talk. I was unclear how the problems levelled at CMS in general were applicable though - they seem more about how you implement your site, not necessarily about what framework you were using.
This is what keynotes are all about, well delivered, spot-on content with a nice blend of thrown in anectodes and not-overused humour. An uplifting start to the day.
